- Delaying gratification
- Acceptance of responsibility
- Dedication to truth
- Balancing
There are two types of disorders in a human being, neurosis and character. We all have them to a certain extent, some more than the other. Those in need of professional help are those that have one overbalancing the other or have just too much of one.
"Put most simply, these two conditions are disorders of responsibility and as such they are opposite styles of relating to the world and its problems."
Neurotic disorder:Assumes too much responsibility. E.g: Everything wrong in this person's life/world is due to him/her. (The team lost again, I must train harder.)
Character Disorder:Does not assume enough responsibility. E.g: Eveything wrong in this person's life/world is due to everyone/everything else. (The team lost again, this coach is lousy!)
